The arts and humanities are the foundation of a liberal arts education. Focusing on cultural, artistic, and intellectual traditions throughout the world, UCSB’s Division of Humanities and Fine Arts prepares students for a wide variety of careers while providing them with the knowledge and the skills of critical thinking, communication, and expression that will allow them to participate in society as informed and engaged citizens. Internationally-recognized scholars and artists teach undergraduate and graduate students and advance their fields with innovative research, publications, and creativite activity that both preserve our traditions and map new fields of study. Many visionary donors have supported this dedicated and innovative work.

A wide range of giving opportunities is available within UCSB’s dynamic arts and humanities community for those friends, community members, and alumni who wish to be a vital part of the university’s future. The Division’s major interdisciplinary initiatives will strengthen teaching, research, and public service across several departments and benefit a large number of students.
